But it seems Selena Gomez still has a little growing up to do judging by her Miley Cyrus imitation at the premiere of her latest movie Getaway.
The former Disney starlet couldn't help sticking her tongue out on the red carpet - just like the Hannah Montana actress did at the MTV awards the night before.
Doing a Miley: Selena Gomez stuck her tongue out
at photographers on the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie
Getaway in Los Angeles on Monday night
But she still wowed fans by wearing a structured floral mini dress with daring lace front panel.
Four inch stilettos showed off her legs to great effect and her long dark hair was tied back to emphasise her pretty face.
Odd couple: Pairing Ethan Hawke and Selena together would seem a brave casting decision
Flashback: Twenty four hours earlier Miley pulled a similar pose at the MTV Video Music Awards
Fancy in floral: Selena looked lovely in floral mini dress featuring lace panel detailing
Pretty: Her ex Justin Bieber doesn't know what he's lost
The new movie is her first real foray into adult acting after years starring in children's productions.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star plays a character known only as The Kid opposite Ethan Hawke who portrays a former racing car driver in a desperate search for his kidnapped wife.
Angelina Jolie's father, Jon Voight, plays the mysterious kidnapper in the Courtney Solomon directed feature.
All eyes on Selena: Ethan can only stand back and watch as his co-star gets the attention
In demand: The fans all want a glimpse of the former Disney star
Thrilled: Selena is generous with her time on the red carpet
Steep learning curve: Selena says she learned a lot from the more experienced actors like Ethan (left) and Jon Voight (right)
For Selena, there is a lot riding on the success of the film and in particular her performance which she hopes will lead the way for more serious roles.Speaking to the New York Daily News at the weekend she said it was time to leave her childstar past behind.
'I feel like I’ve been playing the same character over and over again,' she tells the newspaper.
'I mean I’m super proud of (Wizards) ... I just want to do things that really push me.'
Don't look down: Something has tickled Selena as she stands behind director Courtney Solomon
Chemistry: Word on the street is that the two very different co-stars compliment each other on screen
Cast and crew: Selena, producers Allan Zeman,
Joel Silver, director/producer Courtney Solomon, Jon Voight, Rebecca
Budig, and Ethan Hawke line up together
Crowd pleaser: Selena poses for picture after picture without so much as a grumble
'I wrote everything down, from what he thinks his character would do, and even what he thinks I would do.
'He would always ask me about what I was thinking and make me dig a little deeper. It was like acting class.'
Warm welcome: Selena gets a hug from her co-star and mentor who she said helped get the best out of her
Proud of her work: Selena worked hard fro the role and she hopes her efforts paid off
What's next for the starlet: Selena is hoping doors will open for her
It looks as if she has left behind her on-off boyfriend Justin Bieber too - another clue she is maturing.
There was certainly no sign of the Canadian singer at the premiere.
She told the Daily News she had had enough of bad boys.
'I understand [the attraction], but I don’t suggest it,' she said.
'A nerdy guy that wears the same flannel every day, I think that’s really cute. That’s attractive to me, that kind of vibe.'
Gorgeous: But has she got what it takes to cut it as an adult in Hollywood
And it seems Selina impressed the most important person on set her director, Courtney Solomon.
He told artistdirect.com that she coped well with the role
'It's not too far of a stretch for her,' he said.
'But it's a very nice transition from the parts she was doing to turning into a woman.'
