The singer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, appeared in a courtroom in Van Nuys, California on Monday morning.
If convicted, the In Da Club singer faces up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.

As with all domestic violence cases in California, Jackson must keep at least 100 feet away from the protected witness and must not seek to contact her or any family members while the case is active.
A Los Angeles County judge also ordered the Candy Shop singer to submit any weapons in his possession to law enforcement within the next 24 hours.
As he was leaving the court on Monday, cameras caught the performer being served with paperwork regarding a child custody battle related to the case.

She says she locked herself in her bedroom only to have Jackson break open the door and kicked her, causing injury.
Police estimated about $7,100 in damage to the home.
The woman told police she had been in a three-year relationship and has a baby with Jackson, who has referenced drug dealing and violence in many songs.
'Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him,' his New York attorney, Scott Leemo, said after charges were filed last month.
'It is important to note, Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest. (We) are currently conducting our own investigation into these allegations.'
However, City Attorney Mike Feuer said in a statement: 'Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime, and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office.'
He is scheduled to appear in court on September 4.

He has become on of the world's highest selling rappers and founded his own record label G-Unit Records in 2003.
Jackson has starred in several films including the semi-autobiographical Get Rich or Die Tryin', which was also the name off his 2003 album.
50 Cent formerly dated talk show host Chelsea Handler and singer Ciara.
